Refer to this diagram from MassDOT to understand the crossing lights where the trail intersects with Route 123 / East Main Street. Thank you for helping keep the trail safe for users of all ages and abilities.
While the vast majority of the trail will be paved, a small section between the Mansfield Airport and North Washington Street in Norton will remain unpaved. This section passes through the Winthrop-Dahl Preserve, which is owned and maintained by the Land Preservation Society of Norton. In allowing the trail to pass through this land, LPS has stipulated that the surface must remain permeable rather than being paved with asphalt in accordance with deed restrictions.
If you find navigating this section to be challenging, please reach out.
The parking lot at the Briggs Street crossing was not part of the original project design. The addition of this lot is a condition of the Balfour Farms development off Pine Street in Norton. While it is expected to be paved in the future, it will not be completed before the trail officially opens this fall. It can still be used in the meantime, however.
